Where you are sets a large part of what is available: which jobs exist, which people you might meet, what is normal to attempt, what costs what. Effort matters enormously, and it operates inside those limits rather than above them. Pretending otherwise turns a solvable circumstance into a personal failing.

If you feel stuck, examine the environment before examining your character. Sometimes the same person in a different place finds doors that were simply not present before. That is not a lack of grit, only an honest reading of the map.
