The gap between you and someone competent is usually a count, not a quality. They stalled in a parking lot too, probably with somebody in the passenger seat sighing, and then they did it again. Watching someone who has finished that process makes the stalling feel like evidence about you, when it is really evidence about where you are in the count.

Keep the restarts cheap so you are willing to collect them. An empty lot, a patient driver, a low-stakes hour on a Sunday. The embarrassing phase has a length, and the only way to shorten it is to be in it more often.
