Things you waited for tend to feel better than things you got instantly. The wait is part of the flavor.
STILLNESS
STILLNESS
Anticipation does something to the value of a thing. The weeks of looking forward are part of what you get, which is why the same item bought on impulse feels flat by Thursday. Earning the wait gives you a before, and a before makes the after mean something.
Line up one thing you want and deliberately make yourself wait for it. Name the date, name what you will do to get there, and leave it alone until then. The waiting is not lost time; it is the first half of having it. Notice how much better the arrival feels than the last thing you bought in a hurry.
Which thing you waited longest for do you value most?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
