Plenty of athletes peak later than the kids who were stars at twelve. Early isn’t the same as best.

STILLNESS

WHAT THIS MEANS

Being ahead at twelve is often a head start rather than a ceiling, and head starts get used up. Early stars are frequently the ones who grew first, which is a timing advantage other people catch up to, and by then the habits matter more.

Measure yourself against your own last season rather than against whoever was best in year seven. Keep the parts you control running: attendance, strength, technique, how coachable you are. Those decide where you stand at nineteen. Being behind now says nothing about whether you will be behind then.
