Home is often built from routines before it is built from decoration.

Comfort comes from rhythm more than from objects. Where the coffee gets made, which chair holds the evening, how the light arrives in the morning, what happens on Sundays. Decoration follows those patterns and settles them; it rarely creates them on its own.
In a new place, establish two or three small rituals in the first weeks. They will do more for the feeling of home than any amount of furnishing, and the furnishing will make more sense once you know how you actually move through the rooms.
What would you need to do daily for a new place to feel like home?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
