Learning stick, you’ll stall a lot. Then one day your feet just know.

STILLNESS

WHAT THIS MEANS

Skills that live in your body do not arrive by understanding them. You can know exactly what the clutch is doing and still stall at the lights, because the knowledge has to migrate out of your head and down into your feet. Stalling is the mechanism of that migration, not evidence against it.

Count the failures as the work and go somewhere empty and low-stakes to collect more of them. Give it sessions rather than attempts, and keep them short enough that you stay willing to come back. Expect the moment it clicks to pass unnoticed, since you will be busy driving.
