Two-day shipping trained everyone to expect everything fast. Skills and people never got that memo.
STILLNESS
STILLNESS
Expectations formed by how quickly objects arrive leak into things that cannot be delivered. Shipping got faster; learning an instrument, healing, and getting to know somebody did not, and measuring those against the speed of a parcel makes perfectly normal timescales feel like failure. The impatience is learned, and it is being applied to the wrong things.
Notice this week where you are holding a shipping clock against something human: a friendship, a skill, a recovery, somebody’s reply. Give that one a timescale in months and say the number out loud. Keep the fast expectations for things that come in boxes.
