Keep your plans quiet until they’re solid. Some opinions arrive before the idea can stand.

STILLNESS

WHAT THIS MEANS

An early idea cannot carry much weight, and opinions arrive long before it can stand. Say a half-formed plan out loud and you get everybody’s doubts at exactly the point you have the least to answer them with, which is how plenty of reasonable ideas get abandoned in week one. Later the same doubts are useful, because you have somewhere to put them. Timing is most of it.

Keep the next thing you are thinking about between you and one steady person until it has a shape. Give it two weeks of quiet work. Then tell people, by which point their questions will actually help.
