Not every silence between two people is awkward. Some is just comfortable.

Quiet between two people gets treated as a fault to repair, so it fills up with weather and filler and whatever is on the nearest screen. Some of it is genuinely awkward. A lot of it is two people who no longer need to perform for each other, which is one of the better signs going. The discomfort is often yours alone, arriving as a worry that you are being boring.

Let one gap sit this week without rescuing it. Drive, walk, or just sit there and say nothing for a minute. Notice whether it was actually uncomfortable or only unfamiliar.
