A yes you give out of guilt shows up late and leaves early.
STILLNESS
STILLNESS
A yes produced by guilt is not really an agreement, and your body knows before your calendar does. It shows up as a reluctant arrival, a glance at the clock, a quiet hope the thing ends early. The other person can feel all of that, so you have spent the time and still not delivered what they wanted, which was your actual company.
Notice the feeling at the moment of agreeing rather than afterwards. If the main motive is avoiding somebody’s disappointment, say you will get back to them. A clean no now beats a hollow yes on Saturday.
