Not everyone needs to understand your choices. The ones paying for them get a vote.

Understanding and consent are different things, and only one of them is anybody’s business. A decision does not become valid once enough people nod at it. Where others do have a genuine claim is where they carry something: money put in, risk taken, time given up, which means exposure earns a say and curiosity does not.

Make the list honestly. Whoever is paying or directly affected gets a real conversation with their view taken seriously, and everybody else gets told, kindly and briefly, with no attempt to bring them round. Trying to be understood by all of them is a job with no end in it.
