Decide how much of your day the news gets. Being informed doesn’t require a 24-hour feed.
STILLNESS
STILLNESS
Staying informed and staying immersed are different things, and only one of them needs a constant feed. Knowing what is happening takes a few minutes; the rest is mostly repetition with added alarm, delivered on a schedule built for attention rather than understanding. Caring about the world does not oblige you to watch it all day. A limit does not make you ignorant.
Pick one time and one place you get the news, then leave it alone outside that window. Turn off the alerts, which were never really for your benefit.
How many minutes of news would be enough for your day?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
