Bored kids invented a lot of the games you grew up playing. Stop curing boredom so fast.
REFLECTION
REFLECTION
Boredom is uncomfortable on purpose. It is the pressure that makes you invent something, and if you relieve it in four seconds with a screen you never get to the part where your mind starts making things up out of restlessness. Every made-up game, rule and nickname came out of somebody with nothing to do.
So leave it alone next time it arrives. Twenty minutes with no input, lying on your floor or sitting on a bus, and no decision to be productive about it. What turns up is usually either an idea or an urge to do something you had forgotten you wanted to do.
What did you invent the last time nobody entertained you?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
