Someone held the door, someone saved you a seat, someone remembered. Notice it out loud.
REFLECTION
REFLECTION
Small kindnesses happen quietly and then vanish, because nobody involved treats them as events. Somebody kept a seat, somebody remembered which drink you wanted, somebody waited when they did not have to, and all of it goes unmarked and so goes unnoticed, including by you. Saying it out loud is what turns it into something that happened.
Say it three times this week, specifically rather than generally. Name the actual thing rather than thanking the air: the ride home, the text they sent on a bad day. The people who do these things mostly assume nobody sees, and the sentence costs you four seconds.
Which small kindness today went by without you saying anything?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
