Bring a friend from out of town around your city and listen to what they point at. You’ll learn your own home.
REFLECTION
REFLECTION
You have stopped seeing where you live because you see it constantly, and a visitor has the view you lost. What they point at is often the thing you walk past daily: the hill, the market, the way the evening light lands on one building. Their questions hand you your own town back, briefly, at full resolution.
Do the tour this week even without a visitor. Walk somewhere familiar and ask what a stranger would photograph. Better still, message somebody from out of town and ask what they remember best about your place. Then go and look at it as if you had just arrived.
What did a visitor notice about your town that you had stopped seeing?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
