Make a list of what you’re putting up with that you never actually agreed to. That’s self-knowledge too.

STILLNESS

WHAT THIS MEANS

A great deal of what you put up with arrived by drift. Nobody asked whether you were fine with always being the one who drives, or with how a certain friend talks to you, it simply became the arrangement and you adjusted, which is why it can take years to notice you never agreed to any of it. Naming those things tells you as much about yourself as any personality quiz.

Spend ten minutes writing out what you are currently tolerating and never signed up for. Do not try to fix the list. Pick the smallest item on it and change that one this week.
