Admitting what you actually want is scary because then you have to stop pretending you don’t care.

STILLNESS

WHAT THIS MEANS

Pretending not to care is insurance. If you never say you want the part, the place, the person, then missing out does not count as losing and nobody saw you reach. Naming the want removes that cover, which is why saying it feels risky even in an empty room. It also clears the fog, because a stated want can be worked towards.

Say one of yours out loud when nobody is home, plainly and with no hedging. Then tell one person who will not make a joke of it. Take the smallest step it implies this week, and the fear will stay but stop making the decisions.
