You don’t owe everyone a full explanation of who you’re becoming. Some of it isn’t finished yet.

STILLNESS

WHAT THIS MEANS

Explaining a change while it is happening tends to kill it. Half-formed things need room, and an audience wants a finished answer long before you have one, which pushes you to defend a version you doubt or drop it. Privacy here is not secrecy, it is cover for something unfinished. People who need a full explanation are often managing their own discomfort.

Let what you are keeping to yourself stay yours for now. A short answer works: still working that out, I will tell you when there is something to tell. Pick one or two people for the longer version, and let everybody else meet the finished thing.
