Technology expands human ability without automatically expanding human wisdom.

Capability grows fast and judgment does not. We can do a great many things we have not yet decided how to think about, and there is no mechanism by which the second automatically follows the first. It has to be done deliberately, slowly, by people.

Where you have new power, in your work or your tools, take the time to think about its use rather than assuming the thinking is someone else’s job. The gap between what we can do and what we should is where most of the trouble lives.
