The ability to document everything changes which moments people choose to experience directly.

GRATITUDE

WHAT THIS MEANS

When everything can be recorded, some part of you is composing rather than attending. You are half in the moment and half in its representation, and the recording turns out to be a poor substitute for the experience you were partly not having.

Pick occasions where you do not photograph anything. A meal, a walk, a concert. You will lose the artefact and keep the memory, which is usually the better half of the trade and the one we keep accidentally giving away.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

Which moment would you rather live than photograph?
