The players who improve fastest review their losses. Winners who never review stop improving.

LEADERSHIP

WHAT THIS MEANS

A loss contains the information and a win hides it, because when things go well nobody asks which parts were luck. Reviewing is how the information gets extracted, and it is uncomfortable in exactly the cases where it would help most. Winning without review feels like progress and quietly stops being it.

After the next match, exam or shift that went badly, give it fifteen minutes rather than avoiding it. One question: what would you do differently at the same point. Then do the same after something that went well, which is harder and worth more.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

When did you last go back over something you lost?
