Every awkward era gives you material. Future you is going to need some good stories.

Awkward stretches are unbearable in the present and strangely valuable later, because they are where the stories come from. Nobody tells a story about a year when everything went smoothly and they looked fine the whole time. The haircut, the job, the thing you said to that person: all of it becomes material rather than evidence.

You cannot talk yourself into finding it funny yet, and you do not need to. Just keep a note on your phone of the ones that make you wince, with dates. Read it in five years when it is no longer about you.
