Care runs one direction for a long time and then quietly turns around. The adult who sat in the passenger seat while you stalled at a stop sign was spending patience they did not always feel. Later the same job comes to you with the roles swapped, and your version of it gets built out of whatever you remember of theirs.

Watch how patience actually works the next time someone is slow with you. Then practice it somewhere easy: a younger sibling learning a skill, a grandparent stuck in a phone menu. Think of it as rehearsal.
