Little kids count half birthdays because every bit of being alive feels like news. Keep a little of that.

STILLNESS

WHAT THIS MEANS

A six year old has not yet learned how to be unimpressed. Half a year is worth announcing because time still feels like something happening rather than something passing, and attention has not been trained into boredom yet. Losing that gets called maturity when it is mostly just habit.

Mark something small this month that nobody else would bother counting: a hundred days of something, a year since a day that mattered to you. Tell one person about it. The aim is to keep noticing your own life while it is still going on.
