A cast iron pan gets better the longer a family cooks with it. Some inheritances improve with use.
STILLNESS
STILLNESS
Most things you inherit lose value as they wear, and a few work the other way round. A pan gets smoother and more useful with every meal, which makes it a fair picture of the things handed down that are not objects: a skill, a trade, a way of treating guests. Those also improve by being used rather than protected.
Use the inherited thing in your house instead of keeping it safe in a cupboard. If what you inherited was a skill somebody taught you, use that too this week, clumsily if necessary. Keeping something from use is usually how it stops being worth anything.
What do you own that improves with every year used?
