Heirlooms usually start as ordinary stuff: a watch, a pan, a toolbox. Someone just used it with love for long enough.
STILLNESS
STILLNESS
Nothing is ever bought as an heirloom. The things that end up precious are ordinary objects that happened to be used daily by somebody who mattered, and the meaning gets applied later by the people who watched them use it. Time and use do that work, rather than price or craftsmanship.
Use one plain thing of your own consistently enough that people associate it with you: a mug, a pocket knife, a jacket. Then ask about the ordinary objects in your family that have already been quietly promoted. Somebody will be able to tell you whose it was.
Is anything ordinary in your house slowly becoming an heirloom?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
