If your family speaks another language, learn some from them now. It gets harder once the voices at your table are gone.

A language learned from your own people carries things a class cannot hand you, the accent, the jokes, the particular words your family uses for things. That teaching exists only while the people do. You can always study it later, but the version that connects you to your own table is much harder to recover.

Ask whoever speaks it to teach you ten phrases you would actually use at home, then use them badly in front of them. Record a few minutes of them talking while you are there.
