Every sunset is a one-time show. Watch at least a few without a screen in the way.

STILLNESS

WHAT THIS MEANS

No two are repeats, which is easy to forget because they happen daily. Anything both free and reliable gets treated as wallpaper, and the particular arrangement of cloud and colour in front of you tonight has never happened before. Photographing it is not the same as watching it. The camera hands you a worse copy of something you were standing inside.

Catch two or three of them this week with your hands empty. Three minutes is enough, and the walk home counts. Do it without reporting it to anybody, which is most of what makes it feel different from scrolling past one.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

Could you sit through one whole sunset with nothing in hand?
