There is a habit of justifying pleasure by its usefulness: the rest that makes you more effective, the holiday that improves your work. That framing quietly concedes that enjoyment on its own is not enough of a reason, which is a strange thing to have agreed to.
Take something you enjoy and stop building a case for it. Do it because you like it and let that be complete. The reflex to justify is worth noticing, since it usually reveals whose standards you are still operating under.
What pleasure do you keep justifying as somehow useful?
