Being accountable means you don’t need someone to catch you first.

The whole idea sits in the timing. If you only own things after somebody finds them, what you have is a quick reaction to being caught, which is not the same thing, and people can tell. Going first means the standard lives in you rather than in whoever is watching. It also means you get to choose the words.

Think of one thing nobody has noticed yet, small is fine, and surface it this week before it surfaces itself. Say what happened and what you are doing about it. The point is not confession as a ritual, it is finding out that you can be the one who raises it.
