Self-awareness rarely feels like an epiphany. Mostly it feels like cringing at something you used to do.

REFLECTION

WHAT THIS MEANS

Growth is quieter than it looks from outside. Mostly it arrives as a wince: a memory of how you talked to someone last year, a message you would not send now, a phase you thought was your whole personality. That wince is evidence, because you can only cringe at something you have already moved past. It is unpleasant and it is also the receipt.

When one of those memories turns up this week, try not to shove it away. Notice what specifically you would do differently now. Then let it go, and if it involves someone you could still make it right with, that is worth one message.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

What old habit of yours makes you wince to recall?
