You do not become weaker because somebody taught you a faster way.

Being shown a shortcut can feel like a small loss, as though the struggle was part of what made you competent. It rarely was. Most of the difficulty you would have gone through was incidental, and accepting the faster route frees your effort for something that will actually build you.

When someone offers a better method, take it and be curious rather than deflated. Ask how they found it. Then spend the time you saved on something genuinely hard, since the goal was never to have suffered a particular amount along the way.
