Not every unanswered request was unheard. Some of what you asked for arrived in an unexpected form, or arrived later, or was replaced by something you did not know how to ask for. That reading is offered rather than promised, and no one can prove it to you from outside.

Look back at something you wanted badly and did not get, with the distance you have now. Ask what you got instead. Sometimes the accounting looks different than it did, and sometimes it does not, and both are allowed.
