Your favorite place is ordinary to someone who works nearby.

REFLECTION
The place you travel to see and think about all year is, to someone who works there, the walk to the bus and the same view every morning. Neither reading is wrong. Familiarity dissolves specialness reliably, which means specialness was never a property of the place.
That cuts the other way too. Somewhere in your daily route is something that would stop a visitor in their tracks. Try walking part of your ordinary week as though you had come a long way to see it, and notice how much of what you have stopped seeing is actually there.
Which place do you love that others simply pass through?
