Sometimes God’s protection disappoints the version of you that did not know what was coming.

GRATITUDE

WHAT THIS MEANS

The version of you standing in front of a closed door does not know what was on the other side, and that is exactly why the closing feels so unjust. Protection experienced without the information looks identical to deprivation. Only later, if at all, does the picture fill in.

When you are freshly disappointed, you do not owe anyone a gracious interpretation. Feel it. But hold off on concluding what it means for good, since that conclusion is being made with the least information you will ever have about it.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

Which disappointment of yours later looked like being spared?
