The office called neutral may already fit one kind of life perfectly.
REFLECTION
REFLECTION
Neutral usually means designed around an unstated default. The hours assume a certain kind of caregiving, the layout assumes a certain kind of body, the temperature and the noise and the lighting assume a certain kind of nervous system. For the person who matches, the place is simply invisible and comfortable. For everyone else it is a series of small daily adjustments that never appear in any account of the work.
If a space works effortlessly for you, that is worth treating as information rather than proof of its neutrality. Ask the people it fits least what they adjust for, and believe the small answers. Most of what makes a place workable for more people is unglamorous and cheap.
Whose schedule does your workplace assume everyone can keep?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
