The story of a discovery changes when told by the person who supplied the directions.

REFLECTION
The guide, the local, the person who knew where to look, usually appears in the discovery story as a detail if at all. Told from their side it is a different account entirely, one in which the thing was never lost and somebody arrived and was shown. Both narrators are describing the same week and only one version is generally repeated.
When you hear that something was discovered, ask who was already there. In your own work, when you were shown something, say who showed you. That small habit of attribution changes whose contributions become visible over time.
Whose contribution goes missing when you tell your own success story?
