The labor hidden in a cheap object does not become cheap to the person doing it.

RESILIENCE
The low price does not travel back to the person who made it. Their hours were the same length, the work was the same difficulty, and the cheapness was produced by paying them less, not by the labour being lighter. Cost and effort come apart entirely, and only one of them is visible on the shelf.
Where you can afford it, buying from someone whose conditions you can see is worth doing occasionally. Where you cannot, this is not a moral failing on your part. Mostly the useful thing is to stop reading a low price as evidence that something was easy to make.
Whose effort do you benefit from without ever seeing it?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
