A song performed badly can still belong perfectly to the person singing it.

CREATIVITY
Technical accuracy and belonging are separate. A song sung badly can still be entirely someone’s, carried in their voice with a rightness that a more skilful version would not have. What makes it theirs is the fit between the person and the thing, and no amount of correctness produces that fit on its own.
This is worth remembering when you avoid doing something because you would do it poorly. Singing, dancing, writing, speaking a language: the pleasure of these lives mostly outside quality. Do the badly done thing this week. Skill may come later, and even if it does not, the belonging is already available.
What do you do poorly and love anyway?
