The artwork does not have to share its maker’s conclusions to carry their questions forward.

A work does not have to agree with its maker to be faithful to them. What travels forward is usually the question rather than the answer, and that is a more durable thing to hand over, since conclusions belong to a moment and questions can keep working in conditions their author never saw.
Think about what you actually want to pass on. Advice ages badly and gets resented. The habit of asking a certain question ages well and can be adopted freely. With children, colleagues, anyone you influence, giving them your question rather than your verdict leaves them something they can use in a world you will not be around to understand.
Which of your open questions would you want to pass on?
