A confession can bring relief to its speaker and begin a burden for its listener.

GRATITUDE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Confessing moves weight rather than dissolving it. The speaker feels lighter, which is real and often necessary, and the listener now holds something they did not have this morning. The relief on one side and the burden on the other arrive in the same moment.

This does not mean staying silent. It means choosing the listener with some care, warning them if it is heavy, and checking afterwards how they are carrying it. And if something has been confessed to you that you cannot hold, saying so is legitimate. Being trusted does not obligate you to absorb anything at any cost.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

What did someone tell you that you have quietly carried since?
