The boundary between discovery and invention can depend on whether you are naming a pattern or choosing one.
CREATIVITY
CREATIVITY
Whether you found something or made it depends on how much choosing was involved. Naming a pattern that was already there is one kind of act; drawing a line where several would have worked, and then treating your line as a fact, is another. Most human categories sit somewhere between, which is why the argument never fully settles.
With any category that shapes your life, a diagnosis, a job title, a generational label, ask how much of it was found and how much decided. That does not make it unreal or unimportant. It does mean you can hold it as a useful convention rather than as a discovery about your nature.
Which pattern in your life did you find rather than create?
