The person who can leave an unfair arrangement has a different choice from the person who must return tomorrow.
REFLECTION
REFLECTION
Exit changes everything about how a situation feels. The person who can walk away is negotiating; the person who has to be there tomorrow is enduring, and the same arrangement is a different thing for each of them. Advice given from the first position lands badly in the second, because it assumes an option that is not there.
Before telling anyone what you would do, check whether you would be doing it with an escape route they do not have. And if you have one, consider using your position rather than your advice. The person who can afford to raise the difficult thing is the person who should raise it.
What could you walk away from that others around you cannot?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
