A counterfeit ticket can be made of real paper, carry real ink, and still represent permission that does not exist.

LEADERSHIP
Everything physical about it can be genuine while the thing it claims to grant does not exist. The paper is real, the ink is real, and the permission is not, because permission was never a property of the object. Documents represent authority rather than containing it.
Useful to remember about credentials, contracts, and confident claims generally. What matters is the arrangement behind the paper, not the quality of the paper. When something is presented to you as proof, ask what it is a record of and whether that thing actually exists, rather than assessing the artefact itself.
