A life chosen for its appearance can require constant work just to keep looking chosen.

REFLECTION

WHAT THIS MEANS

Choosing something because of how it reads from outside creates a maintenance job that never ends. The house, the title, the relationship, the schedule all have to keep performing, and performance needs an audience, so you find yourself checking whether the effect still lands. Meanwhile the actual living inside it goes largely unattended, because it was never the point. Upkeep like that is exhausting in a way that is hard to explain to anyone, including yourself.

Pick one thing in your life and ask honestly who it is for. If the answer is mostly other people, consider what a smaller, quieter version would cost and what it would give back.
