A slower pace can include someone without diminishing the purpose of the gathering.

GRATITUDE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Groups tend to set their speed by whoever is quickest, as though pace were the point rather than a side effect. Then someone who needs more time, an older relative, a child, a person in pain, becomes a problem to be managed instead of a guest. Usually the actual purpose of the day survives a slower version perfectly well; what suffers is the itinerary, which nobody will remember anyway. The reason people came was each other.

Set the next outing at a pace the slowest person can enjoy rather than endure. Cut one stop instead of hurrying between three. Ask them what would work, and plan from that answer outward.
