A child does not need every interest turned into evidence of future talent.

CREATIVITY
Adults tend to convert a child’s enjoyment into a trajectory. The drawing becomes a possible career, the fast run becomes a team, the curiosity becomes lessons, and something that was simply fun acquires a direction and a standard. Children notice this quickly and start to weigh whether they are good enough to continue liking a thing. Interest survives better when nobody is measuring it.
When a child shows you something they enjoy, respond to the enjoyment rather than the potential. Ask what they liked about it instead of predicting where it could lead. Some things should be allowed to stay hobbies with no future attached.
How many of your interests faded once someone asked where they led?
