The detail you keep private may be protecting someone who has not asked you to explain their life.

LEADERSHIP
Some of what you do not say belongs to someone else. The reason you left, the thing that happened at home, why a friendship ended: telling it fully would mean handing over another person’s circumstances to satisfy a curiosity that is not owed an answer. So you carry a version of yourself that looks incomplete, and people sometimes fill the gap with a worse story.
When the pressure to explain arrives, decide what is yours to tell and stop there. A simple there is more to it, and it is not mine to share, is a whole answer. Let one person who knows the full picture hold it with you.
What do you stay quiet about to protect someone else’s privacy?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
