A full itinerary can leave too little room for the place itself.

GRATITUDE

WHAT THIS MEANS

A packed schedule turns a place into a list to be completed. The hours between things, the wandering, the accidental café and the wrong turn are often where the sense of somewhere actually lives, and they are the first casualties of a full plan. Booking everything also means you cannot follow whatever you happen to find. Arriving is not the same as being there.

Leave one afternoon in every few days deliberately empty. Take an item out of the plan before you travel rather than in the moment, when cancelling feels like waste.
