A crown becomes heavy when you wanted the image of leadership more than the responsibility.

Wanting the standing without the work makes the standing intolerable, because responsibility is most of what the position actually consists of. The image is pleasant and the daily reality is decisions, blame, and other people’s problems. Taken for the image, it becomes a weight rather than a role.

Before pursuing a position, describe its actual week rather than its title. Ask whether you want that. Wanting the work is what makes the rest bearable.
